Now I am stuck with how to execute the files on the bootable disc. So I realized I missed a step in the process. I downloaded the program, but did not run it. I saved it to a DVD as a bootable copy. So the first issue is solved, but now I use my bootable copy and the Norton Advanced Recovery Scan acts like it is working, but never shows items scanned or found and fails.

I tried the Norton Power Eraser and agree to the terms, but I received this error. I have tried the scans numerous times but no luck. Need additional advice and help. I also just finished testing a USB version and it also failed. I have not been asked for the product key.

I've done it before on desktops and haven't had a problem booting and installing from CD and so on but with my Inspiron I have one pretty big problem. I've done what every website suggests and checked both the Autoexec. Because the Insprion has only one module bay and therefore you have to take the CD drive out to put the floppy drive in it doesn't detect that the computer has a CD device at all.

I need to have the floppy drive in because it needs to boot from the boot disk, and I can't boot from a bootable CD because the computer doesn't recognise the drive. That was the first thing I did. But because the computer doesn't recognise the CD drive it doesn't do a thing.

I've even taken the floppy drive of the list of things to boot from in the BIOS menu so that the CD drive is the only thing I ask it to boot from but it says "Invalid system disk. Replace the disk and then press any key". Browse Community.
